This year, two of our member's went to a New Year's Event organised by another AEGEE local.
Q: What is a New Year's Event (NYE)?
A: A NYE is an European Event orginised by an AEGEE local which every AEGEE member can join, you have to give some info and write a small motivation.
The event is around New Year's Eve which you will celebrate there as well. This year we had 10(!) options:

Our two members which attended a NYE will now talk about it in some sentences:
Balaji, Queer up your new Year (AEGEE-Utrecht):
Feeding the Brain with the knowledge on LGBT Rights and combining with parties that drains the
last bit of our energy was a wonderful way to start the New year 2018. “Queer up your New year
2018 by AEGEE-Utrecht was well organised with fine work, excellent planning and realistic
scheduling to provide a pleasant time for the participants during the event. The event started with a
city tour then visiting museums and Dom tower helped us to understand the glimpse of Dutch
culture & Architecture. The event was also packed with unique activities such as partying in a Gay
bar, silent disco (most catchy activity of the event ), watching a movie “Die mitte der welt” (about a
gay love story ) and taking a dive in the North sea to celebrate the New year in a Dutch way. I
believe that LGBT discussion session in the event had made a huge impact on participants by
shattering our stereotypical view on LGBT community and educating about bringing the awareness
on the rights that have been denied to this community in various part of the world. Finally Kudos to
all the organisers for consigning such a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend this
event for all AEGEEans to queer up your next New year.

If the group is great, then there is nothing that can turn an event into a bad event, but if the group is fantastic, the programme is great, and the organisers and helpers are the best, then the event is one to never forget!
NYE Paris was the best European Event I’ve ever had, let me tell you why.
Paris is a huge city, and we could fill the whole 5 days with city tours, which we didn’t. The Organisers&helpers showed us all the great places of Paris: Montmartre, Moulin Rouge, Notre Dame, Louvre, La tour Eiffel and Lafayette.
Apart from the city tours we had the chance to taste the french cuisine, some of them made by the organisers themselves, we learned the French slang words for hello, girlfriend, boyfriend, brother, sister and more. We had a workshop “how to flirt like a Parisian” and we had many objectives and tasks which we had to fulfill during the week. In the evenings I’ve seen the most diverse parties ever in one event. From clubs to underground scene concerts, from boat parties at New Year’s Eve to European Night, everything was there. Big hugs and midnight kisses to all the wonderful people of NYE Paris, you were the best <3
